Cherish Williams

Board Chair

Cherish is a third year doctoral student studying School Psychology at UNC. She has a master's degree in School and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. Much of Cherish's professional training has centered around cultural sensitivity and promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and adolescents.

 
 

Torri A. Staton

Board Co-Chair/Secretary

Torri A. Staton, Ph.D is the Director of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.  She was the 2019 Postdoctoral Fellow with we are (working to extend anti-racist education) in Durham, NC and is currently a board member.

She is an equity-focused scholar and higher education professional who uses narrative analyses to study the social and cultural intertwining of American education and American popular culture.  It is her goal in all things to highlight and uplift the stories and histories of Black people, specifically Black women, in her scholarship.  She has served as an educator in a variety of capacities including as a Teacher, Advisor, Retention Counselor, Mentor, and Professor.  She is a daughter, a sister, a friend, a dog mom, a music enthusiast, and an avid film watcher.  She resides in Durham, North Carolina.

Antonio l. Mcbroom

Antonio L. McBroom is the franchise developer of Ben & Jerry’s with retail and business locations throughout North Carolina, Georgia and Texas. Antonio grew up in rural North Carolina and earned the Morehead-Cain scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While attending college he began his journey with Ben & Jerry’s in 2004, “Scooping his way up” from minimum wage scooper to shift leader to shop manager. He later seized the opportunity to purchase the Chapel Hill shop in 2008, becoming the youngest franchisee in the company’s history.

Antonio became a multi-unit franchise operator in 2012, first growing operations within the triangle and triad regions of North Carolina, and then growing regionally in the Atlanta metro, central Florida, and greater Houston metro area. Antonio and his “Team Primo” have innovated by propelling the off-premise category by double digit sales growth annually. The company is currently a global sales leader for Ben and Jerry’s system wide. 

 

Daniel Kelvin Bullock

Treasurer

Daniel Bullock is a graduate of UNC - Chapel Hill (Bachelors and Masters) and NC State University (Doctorate) and currently works as the Executive Director for Equity Affairs with Durham Public Schools. Bullock has been in education for 12 years (previously serving as a Social Studies teacher and curriculum specialist). As the son of an educator and the parent of children entering the public school system, Bullock is passionate about how we educate students in our nation's schools.
