A Case for Teacher Diversity

Educators of Color Make A Case

for Teacher Diversity

Last month, we are and several partner organizations released a brief, Educators of Color Make a Case for Teacher Diversity at a congressional briefing on “The Educator Shortage: An On-The-Ground Perspective and What Policymakers Can Do.” The group met to highlight the issues facing educators in the field, specifically educators and candidates of color. The panel event included remarks by Arizona’s Representative Ruben Gallego; Kira Orange Jones, CEO of Teach Plus; and John B. King Jr, 10th U.S. Secretary of Education and president of The Education Trust; and five teachers of color from states across the country.

Please review the brief below and check out this resource to learn more about what educators of color have to say.
